About Us
Hello ladies and gents. My name is Mark Crawford, and I have been guiding fly fishing trips on the Spring River out of Mammoth Springs, AR, for four years. Mammoth Springs is the outlet of an underground river that starts in Howell County, Missouri, and flows south through Fulton and Sharp counties in Arkansas. Over 9 million gallons of water per hour flow out of Mammoth Springs at a constant 58 degrees, which is ideal to support a large population of diverse fish. It is the largest spring in Arkansas, and the 10th largest spring in the world. The largest tiger muskie, an Arkansas record, was caught here in 1995 and weighed 23 lbs and 12 oz.
I primarily do walk in wade trips, but I also do float trips down the river. Dam number 3 is my primary access point, and it offers fantastic trout opportunities. I fish this area almost daily. This is a great benefit to you, as I know the area so well. While other guides work out of the Spring, White, and Norfork, I only guide on the Spring. All of my flies were designed or modified by me to use on the Spring River. Some of my flies are works of pure genius, but maybe I'm just a little biased.
When you hire me as your guide, I will teach you to catch trout on the river. Please look at our photos to see some clients and the trout they have caught. I only use fly rods, and a lot of the fly fishermen and women I meet on the river are shocked by my methods of catching trout. It works. I will go up against any other guide on the river.
I will not use a spinning rod as too many fish are killed with powerbait and other natural baits. It is very rare for a trout to swallow a fly with my techniques. However, if you want to use a spin rod, I will point you to where the fish are.
I am trying to promote fly fishing on the Spring River because it is my passion. If you have never fly fished before, come down and let me teach you. I believe fly fishing should be fun and relaxing so plan on having a good time. I hope to see you soon.
Thank you and happy fly fishing,
Mark Crawford
